SDA1: Digisonde data-driven electron density reconstruction model

Two workflows are being designed in the framework of SDA1: 

  • Workflow 1: Single-ionogram processing and profile reconstruction

The is workflow is designed to analyse a single Digisonde ionogram acquired at a specific time stamp and to provide a detailed comparison of the ionospheric characteristics retrieved by the ARTIST and DISPEC processing chains.

  • Workflow 2: Time-series generation over a selected interval

The second workflow extends the single-ionogram analysis to a user-defined time interval and is designed to generate consistent time series of ionospheric characteristics.

Furthermore, the reconstruction of the topside electron density profile driven by user-selected input ionospheric bottomside characteristics, a user-controlled workflow, is also provided. Specifically, the hybrid NeQuick-Digisonde-TaD (HyNT) model was developed as part of SDA1, and provides the reconstructed Ne profiles from the bottomside to the topside ionosphere. The model is driven by ionogram-derived bottomside profiles.
